Don’t Let your Trade Show Booth Become a Science Fair

The temptation to cut corners on a trade show booth for the sake of time or money is difficult to fight.  It may seem simple to design your own artwork without any experience or  to purchase the cheaper display to save some money, but you might be surprised by the number of issues that may arise from these seemingly effective decisions. Here are a few issues we’ve seen happen with orders at APG Exhibits.

Artwork Design or Trade Show Booth Disaster

Artwork design isn’t as easy as copy/pasting your logo onto a template. You can’t use just any image or design software. To create the most clear and vibrate artwork for a trade show booth , you need experience and quality software to create quality art. The most common mistake our customer service team has seen, is sending us artwork that that was not originally created in vector format. We have seen people use everything from small JPEG files to Microsoft PowerPoint. Although these files are easy to work with, they do not give you the image quality and size needed to create a large-scale display like our 10′ x 10′ trade show booths. If you only have small JPEG images, we can make still make it work.  Our experienced in-house artwork designer can recreate many low quality images into vector format so your trade show display looks sharp.

Cost Cutting Purchases

We have a wide range of products to fit most time and budget constraints.  However, not every item is fit for every trade show booth need. For example, our budget friendly Spring 4 Budget Spring-Back Banner Stand is great for indoor, trade show use. It is very light weight, which makes it easy to transport but easy to knock over as well.  This item should not be placed in a high-traffic area where passersby may brush the corner and knock it down. This banner stand also has a 90 day warranty against manufacturing defects.

On the other hand, the Orient 800 Premium Banner Stand is a little more costly, but has several more features. One of the most valuable features of this banner stand is its lifetime warranty against defects. If your retractable banner stand stops working properly with normal use you can have your hardware repaired or replaced at no charge. This display also retracts into its stand for easy storage and transport in its padded carry bag. The extra weight in the base and sturdy hardware also makes this banner stand more difficult to push over.

So if you needed a temporary banner stand that will only be used a few times in a calm, indoor facility I would definitely recommend one of our Spring-Back banner Stands. But if your are looking for a banner stand to last under pressure, don’t cut corners and buy the less expensive stand, you’ll save more money on repairs with an APG retractable banner stand.

Time Saver or Time Waster?

Maybe you just found out about an amazing trade show coming up in two weeks but you don’t have a display ready. APG Exhibits has some of the quickest turn around times available, but sometimes things can get in the way. We have seen many clients come in with this exact situation on their hands. Often times we are able to make the client’s in-hands date with a rush on production and overnight shipping no problem.  But sometimes, unexpected holidays arise, clients are unable to give approval to artwork, technical difficulties stop all communication, or the order is passed on to someone who doesn’t check his/her email regularly. Any of these delays can render it nearly impossible to make an in-hands date on time. There are a few things you can do to prevent these additional delays from occurring:

1. Backup everything, even create backups of your backup files.  This might seem like a waste of time but if you’ve ever been in a situation where your original files were lost and your secondary back up failed, you’d know how much a relief it is to have that third set of files.

2. Keep your old artwork designs. In a situation where you need to build a new trade show display quickly, already having artwork is the easiest way to save time.

3. Do the work yourself.  If you can get other people on board to help, that’s fantastic!  However, once you get those people on board, don’t abandon ship.  As the organizer, you have to keep everyone on track and do your part or else the process can take much longer than expected.
